Cats, Dogs, & What’s Coming Up
Laura, my greyhound, reminded me that I’m a slacker. I need to let you all know about the paws-itive pet-oriented things happening.
Here’s what’s coming up for the pet public over the next couple of weeks:

Fall Pet Portraits
The Furry Friends Food Bank will be the benefactor from a pet portrait event held at Green Acres Kennel Shop on September 30 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Registration required to secure the purrfect spot.
Photos by Bell Imaging & Design with $10 from each 20-minute session (or $20 from a 40-minute double session) going to the food bank. Read more about it here.
Gallivant with the Greyhounds
This is the fifth year that Maine Greyhound Placement Service has hosted its annual Gallivant with the Greyhounds event. Hounds, their people, and other people and pets are welcome to join the parade around Capitol Park in Augusta on September 30 from Noon-2 p.m.
Meet by the Veteran’s Memorial. For more information, email Sharon Eugley at [email protected]. Funds raised from this event benefit the 40 greyhounds at their facility in Augusta.
Paws on Parade
This 19th annual event is Bangor Humane Society’s biggest event of the year. On October 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bangor Waterfront, you can come out, strut your stuff, engage in dog-related activities, and have a howling good time. Find out more information or register for the event here.
The 15th Annual Paws in the Park
The Animal Refuge League is hosting its 15th annual dog-walking event, Paws in the Park, at Payson Park in Portland on October 7th. The walk begins at 9 a.m. After, there are lots of fun dog-related activities for the entire family.
